How to Travel More Responsibly

Responsible travel begins with attention. The goal is not perfection; it is to understand how your choices affect residents, landscapes and the people who make the journey possible.

Spend with intention

Use locally owned services when they fit your needs, learn what fair tipping looks like in the destination and avoid bargaining in situations where the difference matters more to the seller than to you.

Reduce pressure on place

Visit popular areas at quieter times, stay on marked routes and follow local guidance around water, waste and wildlife. Small choices add up when many travelers share the same space.

Let respect guide the camera

Ask before making a person the subject of a photograph. Follow restrictions at cultural and sacred sites. A memorable image is never more important than someone’s dignity or a place’s rules.
