Paid placements
Display advertisements are labeled Advertisement. Paid stories and editorial partnerships are labeled Sponsored or Paid Partnership near the beginning of the content. A sponsor may supply factual background, but payment must not be concealed as an independent recommendation.
Hosted experiences and supplied products
When a contributor receives complimentary or discounted travel, accommodation, meals, admission or products relevant to a story, the article’s disclosure should identify the support. Hosted reporting does not guarantee positive coverage. A firsthand review must be based on an actual, documented experience.
Personal interests
Contributors should disclose a relevant financial, employment or personal connection to a business they cover. Readers can raise an undisclosed relationship through our Contact page.
