Scale becomes visible when the frame includes a readable relationship: a trail, tree, building or person who is safely and naturally present. Bigger foreground objects alone can distort rather than explain.
Why this matters
Choose a reference that belongs in the scene and keep it subordinate. Use layers, known forms and light direction to help the viewer understand distance.
Make the plan usable
Put subject welfare, local rules and personal safety ahead of the image. Record the details that would be difficult to recover during a delay, and leave enough margin to change the plan when the evidence changes.
Questions worth answering
- Is the distance responsible?
- Was consent needed?
- What context belongs in the caption?
- How will files be protected?
Verify before travel
Schedules, access, prices, policies and conditions can change. Check current official information and confirm any detail that would determine whether the trip works.
